ABOUT Us

Citizen Advocacy was established in 1980 and has supported people in Perth with intellectual disability for over 40 years!

We are a not-for-profit, Australian Government funded organisation which aims to promote, facilitate, and support advocacy for people with intellectual disability. Disability advocacy is acting, speaking or writing to promote, protect and defend the human rights of people with disability.

What we do

We seek out people with intellectual disability who are isolated from their community and have little family support or social activity.

Our aim is to provide additional help to this group of vulnerable people by matching them with a caring member of the community who becomes their friend and advocate.

BECOME AN ADVOCATE FOR US

There are many ways to get involved with Citizen Advocacy, but the main way is by becoming a long term Citizen Advocate to someone with intellectual disability.

CAN WE HELP YOU?

If you (or someone you know with intellectual disability) needs assistance with a problem, we may be able to find a citizen advocate to help.
